Great Racing

Another beautiful day of racing and always great competition regardless if you are going for a course record or a personal record on 26th Street. Last week David Pico of Peak Region Cyclist was there taking photos and this week Bob Kane of OutthereColorado was there to take shots of the action. Action packed it was with the course record being beat by two incredible athletes, Cameron Chambers (too many National Championships to name) and Swen Sundberg (professional triathlete for Team Abu Dhabi) battled it out and both beating the course record! Swen got it this time with a flying 15:01 followed by Cameron at 15:04. Seth Stingley is currently leading the men’s series followed by Kevin Porter. On the female side, Danielle Kehoe who races for Cafe Velo continued to dominate with Tracy Thelen of Acent Cycling coming in 2nd. Many in the field broke PR’s and impressed me with their athleticism and sportsmanship. Chris Witt, owner of Cafe Velo was there offering free coffee to the competitors and cheering on the racers. This is what cycling is about, community and having a good time while doing it! Nice job everyone and look forward to next Wednesday night at Cheyenne Canon. Results and photos are on the Wednesday Night Time Trial Series link above. Thanks and have a great day:)

Coffee, beer, great food and good friends.

Chris from Cafe Velo will be at Time Trial #3 & #4 giving out coffee to the racers!  He is also supplying tasty appetizers for the post race party to be held at Bristol Brewing Company September.  1st beer is on Bristol a huge supporter of the Canon and local events. Please RSVP how many are showing, we wouldn’t want to waste any of this great food and drink:) After your TT hang out by the start line and cheer on the riders. Thanks Chris and Mike for your support and influence on the Colorado Springs community!

2012 Ute Valley Pro XCT powered by Rotor Bike USA

Colorado Endurance Sports will be showcasing the 2012 Ute Valley Pro XCT Presented by ROTOR Bike USA on June 16th and 17th 2012 in Colorado Springs.  After many years of being involved in local and regional cycling events, and with the overwhelming response to the 2011 “Hotter than Habanero”, ROTOR Bike USA has become the presenting sponsor for the Ute Valley Pro XCT.

Based in Madrid Spain, ROTOR Bike Components develops cycling products and new technologies meant to improve your cycling experience and performance.   Their solution-focused design ethic has brought many cutting edge innovations to the market, such as the Oval Q-Ring, Trinity Drilling System, and the Self Aligning Bottom Bracket to name a few.  For more information, please visit http://www.rotorbikeusa.com.

The Ute Valley venue will include a Pro XCT cross country, amateur cross country, kids, junior, short track, and Pro “Eliminator” race. This spectator friendly venue starts and finishes on a dirt running track that encloses the Ute Valley Cycling Expo which will showcase the latest and greatest in cycling equipment, apparel and accessories.

Ute Valley is a mountain bike oasis filled with tight twisty single track, short steep climbs, and fun speedy rocky descents.  At  4.5 miles in length the course will include a great mix of open double track suitable for passing, as well as technical riding that will not only be incredibly fun for the racers, but also very spectator friendly.   Additionally at 6100 feet of elevation and with 344 feet of climbing per lap, the terrain and speed will push your limits.
